Sam and Julian are high school best friends full of vibrant teen angst. This is their bittersweet tale of moving poetry and the unique experience of first love in Memphis. Sam's struggle against an abusive father, his girlfriend, and thoughts of suicide clash while his affection deepens for Julian.
Then 21 year old writer/director Morgan Jon Fox created the film on a shoestring budget over two years entirely in Memphis. Premiering at the 2003 Indie Memphis Film Fest, Blue Citrus Hearts won the award for Best Hometowner Feature, and went on to win several other awards across the world, eventually screening at over 50 film festivals. Referred to as βOne of the top 15 films of 2003β by the Chicago Reader, it was picked up by Blockbuster Video for all US stores, and was acquired by Ariztical Entertainment for international distribution.
